Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering Brewery In Planning
Course Description:
This is the 23 week distance education version of the Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering program and is subject to the same course prerequisites. 22 weeks distance education followed by a residential week spent on-site covering brewing, filtration, raw materials and QC laboratories, sensory evaluation training, broad overview of some business subjects related to starting a craft brewery and final exam.
During the business day there are presentations on:
Business structures
Fundraising options
Local, State and Federal regulations
Strategies for growth
Financials
Wholesaler relations.
During the week the emphasis of all of the education days is geared toward business owners rather than working brewers.
Who Should Attend:
Would be brewery owners with a brewery currently in planning who lack formal training in brewing science and engineering. Participation in this class does not include job placement assistance, as it is understood that the participant will not be seeking employment in the industry. Proof must be provided that the applicant plans on opening a brewery in the next 12 to 24 months.
The residential week is held at Drop In Brewing Company, Middlebury, VT.
